Delia Juburri
Biography
Delia Juburri is a multidisciplinary Kuninjku artist from West Arnhem, whose practice includes carving, painting and weaving.
Delia’s painted work often depicts barddebbe (bangle vine) and mandirrhbinj (cracked mud) rarrk design, as well as yawkyawk (water spirits). Her painting style employs precise geometric designs that are repeated within strong graphic forms, typically against a black background, continuing the legacy left by her late husband Timothy Wulanjbirr. Delia works closely with their daughter Eugenie Bonson, sometimes working collaboratively on artworks together.
Delia is also a highly skilled fibre artist, working with pandanus and natural dyes harvested from country, and experiments with complex weaving techniques to create unique sculptural pieces.
