Weaving our stories: Tisser nos histoires

The exhibition showcases the work of artists from four art centres in Arnhem Land: Babbarra Women’s Centre, Maningrida Arts and Culture, Bula’Bula Arts and Numbulwar Numburindi Arts.

The exhibition is organised on the occasion of IDAIA’s participation in the Clermont-Ferrand Textile Biennale and the exceptional visit to Paris of a delegation of artists from the Maningrida community to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Balang John Mawurndjul’s participation in the Public Commission of Australian Indigenous Art at the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac.

More than 65 works and objects have been selected for the exhibition, including bark paintings, wood sculptures, prints, canvas paintings, woven sculptures, baskets, art fabrics, and jewellery.

Organised in close collaboration with the art centres Bula’Bula Arts Aboriginal Corporation, Babbarra Women’s Centre, Maningrida Arts & Culture and Numbulwar Numburindi Arts; in partnership with New Angles, and with the support of the Australian Embassy.
